How the Devs in Last Oasis thought going the same route was a brilliant idea is a conundrum.ĮDIT: Pleased to hear Conan Exiles finally saw sense when the game was virtually on life-support. Ark too was supposed to be tribe-centric (as was poor old Atlas, but I'll let the dead rest in peace) but of course, given human nature, that was never going to work as intended. The fundamental flaw in Last Oasis is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ PvP system which is almost identical to the system in Ark in that zerg-herds, ganking and walling off of resources ruined gameplay. Content is going to be added, hopefully before the game pitches forward face-down and just quietly dies. I'm not grumbling about the lack of content in Last Oasis because of the early Alpha stage it is in. As I type right now, Ark has 105,330 people playing and Last Oasis has 14,183 people playing. At around 11am this morning 74, 949 were playing Ark while at the same time Last Oasis had 2,725 people on it. Without the last part, solo player and small groups will vanish, either by leaving the game or joining bigger clans.ĭevs never learn from the release of other (supposedly) PvP centric survival games that get it wrong. It needs a lot of optimization for large scale pvp and the player base has to adjust to the "the clan controls an oasis and protects it's citizen" style. It really had a rough start with those server issues etc. Originally posted by Aeekto:it´s not slowly decreasing, it´s actually decreasing realy fast compared to other games. basicly controlled PvP during specific times and without all this griefing by destroying things just for the sake of destroying. average players are now at 11.000 again and 18.000 peak (more than Last Oasis, which just got released some weeks ago). Once devs realised they need to focus on PvE too and have PvP only as additional content instead of main focus, they game kept rising like a phoenix again and finally survived. first they catered to the elitist and the game was close to shutdown because all people left this game (was down to 1.000-2.000 average and 3.000 peak). PvP-Elite is something totally different than they think (only people who are into gaming long enough, like 10+ years know what a real pvp player is).Ĭonan Exiles is actually a realy good example for your claim. These type of players who call themselves PvP-Elite are actually realy far from it. Originally posted by cosper_daniel:Every other game that was focused on, and or catered to the PVP element alone, has dwindled and died, this game is going the same exact route, these toxic elite pvp players (and i say toxic because i am a 51 year old pvp player, we dont act like this), will ruin this game just like all the rest, they will be here in EA griefing the PVE players, until they run them away from the game out of pure frustration, then, as normal, the pvp players will move to the next big thing, leaving behind very low population, has happened so many times, when the pvp players move on, and they will, the PVE players are the community that keeps games like this alive, if the devs do not start catering to this group, the population will be gone before this title leaves EA There is just not enough content, severall gamemechanics too confusing for a lot of people and not well thought out and on top of it the KOS everywhere since there is no "risk vs reward" system in place. I expect it will settle down just like Atlas at 1.000-3.000 players during peak hours. If we didn´t have the Covid-19 situation with a lot of people bored at home, the numbers would be a lot lower already. These things usually happen after ~3 month in mmos. This game lost 33% already within 1 week, and now in the 3rd week the peak numbers decreased by 50%. It´s not slowly decreasing, it´s actually decreasing realy fast compared to other games. It just doesn't mean anything if there won't be enough player around to see the final product. I know it is an alpha and the developer can improve a lot. What do you guys expect to happen over the next few weeks? At which point are survival games like that "dead" I like this game a lot and it would be a shame if this doesn't survive.Īn average of 14k player is far from dead but if this keeps going there might be some problems in the future.
